Blue Helm Studios
DWP Program

Disability Work Program (DWP)

The Disability Work Program (DWP) provides structured work opportunities and adapted roles for individuals with more severe disabilities who may require additional support or modified responsibilities.
Program Purpose

The Disability Work Program exists to ensure that individuals with significant disabilities can still participate in work opportunities at Blue Helm Studios.

The program provides simplified workflows, flexible expectations, and additional support depending on the individual's needs.

Relationship to the Accessible Internship Program (AIP)

The DWP works alongside the Accessible Internship Program (AIP). While AIP focuses on standard internship roles with accessibility accommodations, DWP focuses on roles that may require additional support or modified tasks.

Participants may be enrolled in either program depending on their needs.

Participation With the DLP

Participants in the Dyslexia Learning Program (DLP) may also be part of the Accessible Internship Program (AIP), the Disability Work Program (DWP), or both programs at the same time.

The DLP focuses on reading and writing development, while AIP and DWP focus on providing work opportunities.

Depending on their progress and abilities, interns may participate in:

• AIP only
• DWP only
• Both AIP and DWP simultaneously

Work Opportunities

Roles within the DWP may involve simplified tasks or supportive work that allows participants to contribute at a comfortable pace.

These roles are designed to match each participant's abilities while still allowing them to be part of the Blue Helm Studios team.

Program Goals

The goal of the Disability Work Program is to create an environment where individuals of different abilities can participate in meaningful work experiences.

Participants may also transition into other programs such as AIP if their abilities and comfort levels change over time.

Program Integration

The DWP works alongside other Blue Helm Studios programs including the Accessible Internship Program (AIP) and the Dyslexia Learning Program (DLP) to provide inclusive opportunities for all participants.
