Dyslexia Learning Program (DLP)

The DLP is a support program within the Accessible Internship Program that helps interns develop reading and writing skills required for certain roles.
Program Purpose

Some roles at Blue Helm Studios, such as game programming or technical development, require strong reading and writing skills to understand documentation, scripts, and instructions.

If an intern has difficulty reading or writing at the required level, they may temporarily enter the Dyslexia Learning Program (DLP) before beginning their intended role.

How the Program Works

Interns in the DLP participate in guided learning focused on reading comprehension, basic writing, and understanding technical instructions.

The program is designed to help interns reach the level needed to perform their chosen internship role successfully.

Reading Readiness Assessment

After completing the program, interns must take the Blue Helm Studios Reading Readiness Assessment.

This internal assessment measures the ability to read instructions, understand written materials, and communicate basic written information.

If the intern passes the assessment, they may begin the role they originally applied for in the Accessible Internship Program.

Retake Policy

If an intern does not pass the Reading Readiness Assessment, they may retake the exam up to three times.

Each retake must occur at least two weeks apart to allow time for additional learning and preparation.

Alternative Roles

If an intern does not pass the assessment after the allowed attempts or chooses not to retake it, they may transfer to another role.

These roles may involve simpler operational tasks or positions that require less reading or written communication.

Important Note

The Dyslexia Learning Program exists to support interns and help them gain the skills needed for more advanced roles within Blue Helm Stuios. If you get put in this program, your most likely in our AIP (Accessible Internship Program) If you think this is a mistake. Ask the teacher to take the test right away and if you pass you will be given the role.
