Operating Systems

At Blue Helm Studios we use mutliple operating systems for our employees for various tasks in our company and subcompanies. This blog post will explain what is used for each, and why we use it and what you get as a employee if your thinking on applying when applications are open.

Windows

Windows is our main operating system we use. We are a Microsoft Workspace company. Our main computers in the offices and cubicles of our workers mainly use Windows devices of a variety of different brands such as Dell, Lenovo and Asus. But, employees do have the option to ask for a Linux powered device or a MacBook.

Apple Devices

We also use a lot of Macbooks on our campus, we use them for the Makerspace Lab connected to our various machines such as our Bambu Lab 3D Printers, our Colwood Wood burner machines and our Cricut Machines and other machines all of them are powered by iMacs. We also use a iPad as the checkout device connected to our square Termianl Card reader for payment in the in-person shop and at the front of the desk or help desk for applying for each of our memberships. We also use Macbooks if someone books a party and we use them for the giant monitor.

Linux

As a developer myself for most of my life I can tell you that Linux Ubuntu was awesome. Sleek, modern, no AI tools. So for those who want something that isn't what we offer you can select "Linux" and specify what type of Linux from the options on the survey you fill out when you get hired so we can get things ready for you and purchase and setup things.
