Our Position on AI
Blue Helm Studios has a strict policy regarding artificial intelligence. AI is not permitted to be used in Blue Helm Studios projects, games, development work, or submitted content unless the person using it has been officially accepted into the Blue Helm Studios AI Developer Program.
Being a Blue Helm Studios developer, contributor, artist, designer, musician, or other team member does not automatically provide permission to use AI.
Important: You must be accepted into the AI Developer Program and receive the official AI Developer Badge before using AI for work covered by this policy.
What Counts as AI?
For this policy, artificial intelligence includes technologies that generate, modify, automate, or substantially assist with creative or development work.
- AI chatbots and AI assistants
- AI code generation and code completion
- AI-generated images and artwork
- AI-generated music and audio
- AI-generated or AI-modified video
- AI voice generation or voice cloning
- AI-generated writing and text
- AI-generated game assets
- AI-powered development automation
- AI tools that substantially modify or generate project content
What You Cannot Do
Unless you have been officially approved through the AI Developer Program, you cannot use AI for Blue Helm Studios work or submit AI-generated material to a Blue Helm Studios project.
- You cannot use AI to generate code for an official BHS project.
- You cannot submit AI-generated artwork or assets to an official project.
- You cannot use AI-generated music for an official project.
- You cannot use AI-generated writing as official project content.
- You cannot use AI-generated game assets in BHS games.
- You cannot use external AI services to bypass this policy.
- You cannot claim AI-generated work as manually created work.
- You cannot give another person your AI Developer Badge or permission.
What You Can Do
You may use normal development tools, traditional software, programming languages, creative applications, and other non-AI technologies without joining the AI Developer Program, provided that your work follows all other Blue Helm Studios policies.
If you have a legitimate reason to use AI for a project, you must first apply to the AI Developer Program and wait until your application has been reviewed and approved.
AI Developer Program
Apply for AI Development Access
The AI Developer Program exists for developers who have a legitimate project or development requirement involving artificial intelligence.
- 1. Prepare an explanation of what you want to use AI for.
- 2. Explain which project or development work requires AI.
- 3. Explain which AI technology or service you intend to use.
- 4. Submit your application through the official Blue Helm Studios application process.
- 5. Wait for the application to be reviewed.
- 6. If accepted, you will receive the official AI Developer Badge.
AI Developer Badge
The AI Developer Badge is the official indication that a Blue Helm Studios developer has been approved to use AI under the AI Developer Program.
The badge does not provide unlimited permission to use AI. Approval may be limited to a specific project, purpose, technology, or type of AI usage. Developers must follow the conditions provided with their approval.
Remember: A BHS developer without the official AI Developer Badge is not authorized to use AI for covered Blue Helm Studios work.
AI in Blue Helm Studios Games
AI may not be added to a Blue Helm Studios game without appropriate authorization. This includes AI-generated assets, AI-powered systems, AI-generated dialogue, AI-generated audio, and other AI-assisted game content.
Game-specific AI approval may be required even when a developer is already part of the AI Developer Program.
Violations
Violating this policy may result in the removal of AI-generated material, removal of a project or development access, removal of development privileges, suspension from relevant programs, or other disciplinary action.
Serious or repeated violations may result in additional account or team action under applicable Blue Helm Studios policies.
External AI Services
Using an external AI website, application, API, coding assistant, image generator, or other third-party service does not bypass this policy.
The source of the AI technology does not matter. If the technology falls within the scope of this policy, the applicable restrictions still apply.
