Started BoardBooks.Store because his game collection kept losing the fight against his bookshelf — so he built pieces that belong on both.

The Long Version

From A Closet Full Of Boxes To A Shelf Full Of Books

Silas spent a decade in editorial design before a stalled game night — and an argument about where to put the Catan box — sent him down a different path. He started prototyping games bound like novels, first for his own shelf, then for friends who kept asking to borrow them.

He still leads design on every BoardBooks title personally, from the first napkin sketch of a mechanic to the foil stamp on the finished cover. His rule for the studio hasn't changed since day one: if it doesn't earn its place on a shelf, it doesn't ship.

A Few Quick Facts

Favorite BoardBook

The very first prototype — a two-player trading game bound like a field journal.

Usual Order

Black coffee, refilled roughly every ninety minutes during a design sprint.

Currently Prototyping

A cooperative title bound as a two-volume set, one book per side of the table.

Design Rule

If a rule needs a second explanation, the rule gets cut, not the explanation.
